Read one grade level school chosen book (listed below) & complete book report. Read one book of your choice from The Classical Reader & complete book report. Ice Cream Party for students who read FIVE books and complete two book reports.

Why Required Summer Reading

Summer vacation—a refreshing time for recreation, relaxation, and…reading! Not an after-thought or an “add-on,” summer reading is a core component of an education at Arma Dei Academy. Summer reading books are carefully selected to complete our school year curriculum, to create a shared culture, to foster the development of lifelong learners, and to enrich the moral and spiritual development of students of all ages. Students entering grades K-2 must read and record a minimum of four books from the Classical Reader. Click here for the Reading Recording Sheet.

Students entering the 3rd & 4th Grade must complete one required book and one book of choice from The Classical Reader. (Upper Grammar Level or above). Book report forms must be completed for each required book. (total 2). Click here for the Reading Recording Sheet. Click here for the 3rd & 4th Grade Book Report Form. All assignments are due the first day of school, August 21, 2017. All students reading 5 or more grade level books will be treated to an ice cream social during the first week of school. A reading log signed by a parent is required to qualify for the social.
