She relocated to the Denver area to participate in a year-long discipleship/internship program at a Christian residential treatment center for struggling teens, moved on to work as a house manager for a local hospitality ministry, and then joined Young Life staff in central Denver for five years. During this season, she also worked for two years as a classroom para with profoundly and severely disabled high school students in DPS. After her time with Young Life, Mrs. DeVries maintained a small art business for several years with the intent to glorify God through the beauty of art, eventually setting it aside to focus on being a mom. Now in addition to teaching art in the Rhetoric school, she enjoys spending life with her wonderful husband, Lyle and three children (Haddon, Merrielle, and Everett). When she gets a little downtime, Mrs. DeVries savors a good browse: books of all kinds, gardens, thriftstores, historic rabbit holes, cheese platters.
