Happy Easter!

"What was the power and influence that changed the cross from an instrument of bloody torture into the most glorious and beloved of all symbols? The Romans crucified thousands of people before and after Calvary. If Jesus had not risen from the dead, no right-minded person would have glorified anything so hideous and repulsive as a cross stained with the blood of Jesus. By the miracle of His rising from the grave, Jesus placed the seal of assurance upon the forgiveness of our sins. A dead Christ could not have been our Savior. An unopened grave would never have opened heaven.…

Phase I Expansion Update

At their March meeting, the Board of Directors unanimously authorized the completion of the Phase 1 expansion: finishing the main and lower levels. As a result, we will no longer need to use Living Way for classrooms. The completion of the Phase 1 expansion also aligns our facility with our programming, returning all classes to a 16:1 or less ratio. It is a time of both celebration and continued prayer that the project finishes on time and under budget.

Local Pastors Visit Arma Dei

On February 28th, Arma Dei Academy was privileged to host a special event for 20 local pastors. Our "Pastor Appreciation" event included a continental breakfast and fellowship time, performances by the Grace Notes and the Kindergarteners, and short presentations from Mr. Taylor and Mr. Vigil. After breakfast, the pastors were led on a tour of our school, visiting the 8th, 5th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st grade classrooms. Each class was able to showcase what they are learning by displaying a wide array of talents from classifying sentences, to reciting theological principles, and memorizing and interpreting Scripture. We are blessed to have…

Colorado Thanksgiving

Upstairs was a flashback to Colorado's early industries. One student dressed as a nurse carrying for her patient with tuberculosis. Another student dressed as President Theodore Roosevelt ready to embark on his next hunting expedition. Downstairs was a look into Denver's development. Students were dressed as famous families and individuals, including Molly Brown, Titanic survivor. Family and friends were invited to explore the mansion…

What will the adventure look like?

The 5th grade summer reading book, Twenty-one Balloons, was purposely chosen to help set the stage for the fifth grade year together. They embarked on an adventure; what will that adventure look like? As they discussed the book, students used the following adjectives to describe Professor Sherman: adventurous, determined, creative, intelligent, diligent, persistent, courageous, and resilient. Can you imagine what their classes will look like as they purposefully set goals that reflect these character traits?

What Parents Look for in Christian Schools

With the new academic year upon us, parents will be preparing to send their children off to school with different expectations and motivations for their education. Their process of choosing a school was most likely informed by the educational objectives they most value for their children. But what are the priorities of parents when it comes to choosing a school? And what role does faith play in such important decisions? In partnership with the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), Barna asked parents of current and prospective Christian school students about their schooling decisions. The Goals of Education When it comes…

How hard can kindergarten be?

The shaping and appreciation for order and decency starts in kindergarten in an external form. Over the years that discipline is internalized so that students can think and study on their own without any prompting. In addition to teaching our children what they need to know, teachers create an atmosphere for learning. This understanding of the heart and soul of students is part of the beauty of classical education.
