As budding scholars of art and history, Homeschool Collaborative students have continued to examine the stories of medieval history as it gave way to the art and culture of an emerging Renaissance. Among the greatest artists of his time, Donatello was a master sculptor, best known for creating intricate bas-relief sculptures in both marble and bronze, which adorn Florentine chapels, cathedrals, such as the Duomo, and museums throughout Italy. His Marzocco lion sculpture was carved as a protective symbol of Florence, and Collaborative students delighted in creating their own version of bas-relief lions that they wore home as protective pendants!
