Arma Dei’s 5th through 8th-grade students inaugurated a new annual tradition during last Friday’s house competition: cheese rolling! Students were introduced to the British tradition of cheese rolling made famous at Cooper’s Hill near Gloucester, England, before heading out to the green space behind Arma Dei to compete by grade level in chasing and nabbing their own rolling cheeses. The Baby Bell cheeses and Kroger brand cheese wiz cans employed in Arma Dei’s cheese rolling event couldn’t quite match the speeds obtained by the cheeses on Cooper’s Hill. But on a positive note, fewer injuries were sustained than occur on an annual basis in England’s most famous cheese rolling event.
