8th Grade Gift

Each year the 8th grade class gives a gift to the school to show their gratitude of an amazing Christ-centered education. This legacy gift reminds current students of the young men and women that have gone on before them and are now changing this world for Christ. This year, the class of 2017, would like to purchase a beautiful piece of art to be hung on the large wall of the stairwell on the far east side of the building. Ancient Egypt

Second Grade students at Arma Dei Academy begin a chronological study of history and the Bible. This provides the student with an overview of events from creation through the fall of Egypt to Rome. Emphasis is on how the one true God, the God of the Israelites, not the false gods of the Egyptians or other cultures, created the world and worked through history to bring about his purpose. Arma Dei Academy and Augustine Classical Academy joined together for the first Speech Meet in each school's history. Grades 1-7 competed in the memorization and presentation of poetry, Bible, and various other readings. Grade 8 engaged in a lively debate. Lent

Yesterday, March 1, was Ash Wednesday. This began a 40-day period when Christians all over the world remember their sinfulness, ask God's forgiveness, repent and recognize that God's forgiveness comes at an infinite price - the death of Jesus Christ on the cross on our behalf. This year let's make it about something bigger, something beyond ourselves. This year we can put our relationship with Christ as our highest priority. Give generously; pray faithfully; and fast from something that has become too important in your life. In your sacrifice, Christ will meet you.

The fourth grade presents the periodic table

The fourth grade presented the periodic table in song at Chapel last week, along with a special "volcano" science experiment. The periodic table is a tabular arrangement of the chemical elements, ordered by their atomic number, electron configurations, and recurring chemical properties. This ordering shows periodic trends, such as elements with similar behavior in the same column. It also shows four rectangular blocks with some approximately similar chemical properties. In general, within one row (period) the elements are metals on the left, and non-metals on the right.

Chronological Study of History

Arma Dei Academy purposefully selects our curriculum and pursues a chronological study of history. It is our desire for each student to not only know the who, what, where, when and why of events, but that they are able to place themselves on God’s timeline and connect and relate the events to their lives. Each year every grade level has an opportunity to share their excitement and bring to life their historical time period. Diving Deep Into The Classics

Classical education includes reading and diving deep into the classics. Fifth graders are learning first hand in the book, "Calico Captive" by Elizabeth George Spear, about true friendship. Their teacher Mrs. Wenger quoted President George Washington, “Friendship is a plant of slow growth and must undergo and withstand the shocks of adversity before it is entitled to the appellation.” Students have had several thought provoking discussions on this topic alone. Little known fact: While George Washington did not receive a formal education nor did he attend college, he admired classical thinkers greatly and insisted his stepson receive a classical education.
