Why the Arma Dei Academy School of Rhetoric?

Admission to the School of Rhetoric is Open! When defining paideia (παιδεια), words such as education, training, and culture are often used. Other frequently used phrases are “Christian worldview” or “good character,” but paideia involves much, much more. It shapes what “a person loves, what they enjoy, and how they think and act.” Paideia is the ingredient in our hearts and minds that motivates the choices we make, determines how we see the world, and sustains our culture. Education is about soul formation, not just information. And this formation builds a culture. At Arma Dei, parents and teachers partner together to…

Culminating the Classical Christian Education With the Complete Trivium

At the core of classical education is the trivium - the three phases of learning adapted to the three phases of development in our children - grammar, logic, and rhetoric. Since its inception in 2012, Arma Dei has operated as a K-8 school, committed to academic excellence and spiritual growth for students in the grammar and logic stages of development. In the grammar stage the emphasis is on memory work and obtaining knowledge about the facts. As students mature into the logic stage the emphasis turns towards gathering and interpreting information on its limitations and logical implications. Ultimately, the desire is…

The Culture of Arma Dei Academy by Dr. Aaron Denlinger

As we began this year, Dr. Denlinger offered a vision of Arma Dei as the doors of the Wardrobe into Narnia. He reminded us that the goal is to “prepare students to live in that big, bad, beautiful yet broken, created by God [to be fundamentally] good yet fallen world.” We would like to propose that there is no better time than now - in the midst of a pandemic - to be teaching our children how to live purposefully and intelligently in service to God and others. Dwell: Scripture Memorization Program

This June, Aaron Denlinger, Catherine Kochie, and Michael Kochie introduced Arma Dei Academy’s Scripture memorization program, now known as Dwell on the basis of Scripture's injunction to "let the word of Christ dwell in you richly" (Col. 3:16), to the broader classical Christian world at ACCS’s Repairing the Ruins Conference. Their conference presentation can be viewed below. As part of their presentation, Dr. Denlinger and the Kochies shared their vision for putting the entire book of Ephesians to song with a goal of Arma Dei's entire student body memorizing most if not all of the book during the 2020-2021 school year.…

Graduation Blessing

Congratulations Class of 2020! As our graduates prepare for their next chapter in life, please join us in prayer and celebration for all that God has accomplished in their lives during their time at Arma Dei Academy. “Listen to the advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand” (Proverbs 19:20-21). Enjoy this video of Arma Dei students as they send our graduates off with a special blessing song!

May 1, Chapel: Worshiping Together Virtually

Mrs. Ross has been teaching music at Arma Dei since January of 2014, currently loving every minute of teaching Kindergarten through fifth grade students. As we focus this week's time of worship on Jesus' love for the unreached, listen in to hear Mrs. Ross share testimonies and pictures of her recent mission trip to Nepal. The Knedlik family will close our time together by leading our Scripture memory song from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. Please download the Chapel order of events here.
