Kingdom Values Are Upside Down From The World’s Values By Principal Jen Wenger

Kingdom values are upside down from the world’s values is a statement that is often made by the pastor of our church. This has also become a mantra in the Wenger home. As believers, the Christmas season highlights this truth and the countercultural nature of our faith. While the world tells us our desires can be fulfilled by abundance, the Lord declares, “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God” (Lule 6:20). First Grade Festival

We were blessed with a special Thanksgiving performance at Chapel from our first-grade class. It was a delight and joy to watch our students bring to life important paintings depicting our early country. They re-enacted how the men and women showed bravery, grit, and sacrifice that were fueled by their reliance on Almighty God. 4th-Grade Field Trip

On Thursday, October 3rd the 4th Grade class visited two historic churches in downtown Denver. The Metropolis of Denver, a Greek Orthodox center that has stunning iconography, typical of this denomination. While there, students received a tour from one of the Fathers and discussed as a class the similarities and differences between Eastern and Western Christianity. Once their tour of the Metropolis was over, students went to Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Built in the early 1900’s, this stunning Catholic Cathedral, built in the gothic style has over 75 stained glass windows and two bell spires reaching 210 feet.

3rd-Grade Field Trip

On Friday, October 4th the 3rd Grade class traveled to the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. They spent the morning touring the housing, dining, training, and recreational facilities of 500 athletes and coaches at the flagship training center. They spent the afternoon experiencing their own athletic challenge on the Ninja Warrior Course at the Springs Trampoline Park. We may have some future Olympians in the 3rd grade class!

House Kickball Competition

Arma Dei Houses compete every Thursday in either an academic or athletic category. This week's kickball competition, Avari and Laiquendi were victorious over Noldor and Vanyar respectively. Noldor House, however, earned points for good sportsmanship. They created and raised signs to support Vanyar, Laiquendi and Avari when those Houses took the field! Several 8th-grade leaders earned additional points for their houses by ensuring that younger members of their house were included in the contest and had an opportunity to kick the ball before older students took turns. 5th-Grade Field Trip

5th-grade class ventured to Living History Days in Morrison, CO. They experienced 18th-century life through costumed interpreters, hands-on activities, and military demonstrations. Aspects of the 18th-century life were on display - agriculture, blacksmith, cider press, education, games, gunsmith, military, and much more. Students participated in a lesson on candle dipping, wrote their name with a feather at the calligraphy table, played with muskets and pretended they were in the military!
