4th Grade Family Weekend

Last weekend, students and parents from the 4th-grade class had an amazing time together at Snow Mountain Ranch. Beautiful weather, fun activities, and lasting memories were made. The purpose of this parent sponsored retreat was to create a foundation for future conversations among parents and a tighter bond within the class. Friday night’s activity set the stage for the entire weekend as participants put together a puzzle together, demonstrating how God sees each child individually, made in HIS image. Throughout the weekend, various team activities drove home the realities students face that interfere with understanding their true identity in Christ. As…

8th Grade Retreat

Our 8th-grade students spent last Wednesday through Friday on retreat at Camp Idrahaje in Bailey, Colorado. Their time away included team-building exercises and a number of good old-fashioned fun activities, including archery tag, cliff rappelling, a ropes course, water balloon fights, frisbee golf, and night-time games. Morning and evening sessions in an outdoor chapel provided breathtaking views of the Milky Way and gave the students opportunities to study Scripture, pray, develop collective goals for the year, and brainstorm ways that they might serve God and others in the life of the school this year. The students, on their own initiative, committed…

The house system achieves this goal in three ways: 1) by giving students incentives (house points and corresponding awards) to meet high standards for student competition, comportment, and interaction; 2) by creating house-specific, school-wide, and community-oriented opportunities for service…

An email to our STEM teachers from a parent:

Hi STEM teachers! I wanted to send a quick note to thank you for all your hard work with my kids. We were on a road trip this summer and stayed at a ranch in Cody, WY which had an irrigation ditch running through. One lazy morning while my husband and I were inside catching up on work, our kids planned and executed their own STEM challenge to see who could create the fastest boat that could deliver a payload (a piece of broken smoothed glass). They could only use materials they found laying around. They invited us out to witness the…

A debate over public funds for private schools, by Jessica Gibbs.

A debate over public funds for private schools, by Jessica Gibbs Greg Vigil, chairman of the board at Arma Dei Academy in Highlands Ranch, is brimming with excitement about the Douglas County commissioners’ plans to spend millions of dollars on security measures and mental health programming in local schools. The commissioners’ plans include a $10 million, one-time offering for physical security and mental health programming in schools, plus an ongoing $3 million — if matched by county schools — that will help fund school resource officers in the county. He’s grateful, he said, that the financial offer was made to all…
