Teaching Science from a Biblical Worldview by Dr. Ault

Matthew 22:37 And he [Jesus] said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Training children’s hearts, souls, and minds to love the Lord means that they grow to acknowledge him in all of creation and everyday life. This applies to every subject taught, every game played, every word spoken. This is the highest aim of Christian educators and parents and is, in essence, a biblical worldview. The great Dutch prime minister and theologian Abraham Kuyper stated, “Oh, no single piece of our mental world is…

Arma Dei Graduates: Armed for the Future

The culture of Arma Dei Academy is a direct product of faculty committed to Arma Dei's mission. The administration, teachers, and support staff at Arma Dei are committed to equipping the students God has entrusted to their care for lives of Christlike service to God and others. That fact necessarily produces a culture where students are consistently reminded of Christ's sacrificial service to his people and encouraged to emulate Christ in concrete acts of sacrificial service to one another. The pending addition of a School of Rhetoric at Arma Dei will provide faculty scope to put the finishing touches on students,…

Why the Arma Dei Academy School of Rhetoric?

Admission to the School of Rhetoric is Open! When defining paideia (παιδεια), words such as education, training, and culture are often used. Other frequently used phrases are “Christian worldview” or “good character,” but paideia involves much, much more. It shapes what “a person loves, what they enjoy, and how they think and act.” Paideia is the ingredient in our hearts and minds that motivates the choices we make, determines how we see the world, and sustains our culture. Education is about soul formation, not just information. And this formation builds a culture. At Arma Dei, parents and teachers partner together to…

Culminating the Classical Christian Education With the Complete Trivium

At the core of classical education is the trivium - the three phases of learning adapted to the three phases of development in our children - grammar, logic, and rhetoric. Since its inception in 2012, Arma Dei has operated as a K-8 school, committed to academic excellence and spiritual growth for students in the grammar and logic stages of development. In the grammar stage the emphasis is on memory work and obtaining knowledge about the facts. As students mature into the logic stage the emphasis turns towards gathering and interpreting information on its limitations and logical implications. Ultimately, the desire is…

Homeschool Collaborative Program

As students of medieval history, 1st - 4th grade Collaborative students copied portions of Ephesians as monastic scribes, by quill and candlelight in a silent scriptorium, which was a room in medieval European monasteries devoted to the copying and illuminating of manuscripts. The word "scriptorium" literally means, "a place for writing," and in that sense, all of Arma Dei's classrooms are modern scriptoriums! The lesson continued into art class with Mrs. Van Steyn where students created illuminated lettering that typified medieval manuscripts. Arma Dei Academy's Homeschool Collaborative program is enrolling 1st - 4th grade students. Interested families are encouraged to visit…

The Culture of Arma Dei Academy by Dr. Aaron Denlinger

As we began this year, Dr. Denlinger offered a vision of Arma Dei as the doors of the Wardrobe into Narnia. He reminded us that the goal is to “prepare students to live in that big, bad, beautiful yet broken, created by God [to be fundamentally] good yet fallen world.” We would like to propose that there is no better time than now - in the midst of a pandemic - to be teaching our children how to live purposefully and intelligently in service to God and others. In Narnia’s The Lion, The Witch & the Wardrobe, as the Pevinsie children…
