Colonial Soldiers

Fifth graders enjoyed a visit from "Robert Revere" and two of his fellow Colonial soldiers. Dressed in authentic Revolutionary War garments, the soldiers shared their experiences from the side of the trained colonial soldier and that of the militia volunteer. Students were taught how to load a musket and attach a bayonet. In addition, they held samples of colonial tea bricks, sugar, coins, and children's toys. Happy Pi Day!

On March 14th, math lovers all over the world celebrate Pi Day. Pi is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant - the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter - which is approximately 3.14159. Pi has been calculated to over one trillion digits beyond its decimal point. Pi Day is always full of fun for the School of Logic. Each student was asked to bring a circular food that they shared with their classmates. Prizes were awarded for memorization of the most digits of Pi, best tasting, most circular, and most creative.

We hold classroom speech meets for grades 1-7.  Students choose from an official list and memorize and perform their selection before judges. Students may choose from a variety of categories–Bible memory, poetry, dramatic interpretation, or patriotic recitation. Qualifiers are selected from each grade to compete at Augustine Classical School. Congratulations…

The 5th grade classes had the opportunity to travel back in time to Harlem Heights, New York, September 1776. Here is the scene into which the ventured: "New York City is now occupied by the British.
